San Juan, Puerto Rico, November 5, 2013 – INTERPHEX Puerto Rico 2013, the island’s most trusted platform and source for product and technical information, surpassed expectations with a 12% increase in attendee participation over the previous year. Combined, the past two editions of INTERPHEX Puerto Rico have seen a 32% increase in attendee participation.
More than 5,420 industry professionals from the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, buildings & facilities, and the supply chain industries visited the Puerto Rico Convention Center on October 10 & 11 and benefitted from the most impressive and complete event of its nature, as well as an educational program like no other on the Island, tailored to their specific needs.
“This year our goal was to advance the island’s economic growth by bringing together Puerto Rican and International businesses, creating a productive educational and professional environment, “noted Bob Stewart, Industry Vice President of INTERPHEX. “We proudly secured world renowned speakers, recognized for their successful integration of innovative processes within their companies that can easily be implemented by businesses located on the island.” A sample of headlining speakers included: George Bandy, Vice President of Sustainability of Interface; Mike Salinas Director of Manufacturing Technology for M+W U.S., Inc.; Bill Constantino, Founder and Sr. Partner, W3 Group; and Jean Pierre Allard, Serialization Product Manager for Optel Vision, among others.
INTERPHEX Puerto Rico’s vibrant exhibit floor premiered the Green Market Place Pavilion, part of the Buildings and Facilities area, where for the first time, multiple participating companies joined together to showcase their products with a unique collaborative approach. The Pavilion created 7 different typical work environments to demonstrate the quality of their products, all connected through a state of the art network that allowed visitors to interact with each company’s product digital media through 3M Multi-Touch Media Center Screens. The interactive installation was available thanks to a partnership between 3M, the US Green Building Council (USGBC) Caribbean Chapter, laKomuna and El Avanzatorio.
Also, for the second year in a row, the USGBC Caribbean Chapter recognized leading companies in the private and public sector in Puerto Rico that have achieved their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifications, proving that the business community on the island is moving ever so quickly toward healthy, productive, cost- effective buildings and neighborhoods. This year’s eight recipients included: 8 New LEED Certified Buildings: USDA International Institute of Tropical Forestry, VA San Juan Administration Building, Microsoft Retail – Plaza Las Americas, Escuela Dr Hiram Gonzalez, New Addition to Sartorius Stedim, Main Building FEMA Leasehold Improvement, USVI LEED-H Prototype, and Professional Offices Park V – Tower III.
For the 4th year in a row, the Multisectorial Alliance of Buyers and Suppliers used INTERPHEX Puerto Rico as a platform for their Latin American Supply Chain Expo, where various internationally renowned speakers held conferences and workshops in topics of great interest such as the Jones Act cabotage issues on the island, counterfeit and product falsification, serialization, benefits and capabilities of Free Trade Zones, project management, regulation, and benefits of greening the supply chain.
